Society Membership

Elevating Standards in Laser Medicine & Surgery

At BSLMS, ethical practice and patient safety form the foundation of everything we do. The Society is committed to promoting responsible, evidencebased, and ethical dermatologic practice in the use of lasers, energy-based devices, rejuvenative and regenerative therapies. The BSLMS Code of Ethics reflects this responsibility not only to its members, but also to patients, trainees, and the broader medicalcommunity.

Professional Integrity

Members shall conduct themselves with honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all clinical, academic, and professional interactions.

  • Practice within the scope of recognized dermatology training

  • Accurately represent qualifications, experience, and expertise

Avoid misleading claims regarding outcomes or technologies

Patient Safety & Welfare

The safety and well-being of patients must remain the highest priority.

  • Follow evidence-based practices and established safety protocols

  • Obtain informed consent for all procedures

  • Use lasers, devices, and regenerative therapies responsibly

Avoid unsafe, unproven, or experimental treatments outside established ethical frameworks

Evidence-Based Practice

Members shall strive to base clinical decisions on sound scientific evidence.

  • Use validated techniques and protocols

  • Stay updated with current research and best practices

Apply India-specific considerations, particularly with respect to skin type diversity

Professional Education & Knowledge Sharing

Members shall support education and academic advancement.

  • Engage in continuous medical education

     

  • Share knowledge responsibly and respectfully

     

  • Mentor students and residents ethically

     

Acknowledge original work appropriately and avoid plagiarism

Research Ethics

Members involved in research must adhere to accepted ethical standards.

  • Obtain appropriate approvals and informed consent

  • Maintain honesty and integrity in data collection, analysis, and publication

Disclose conflicts of interest in research and publications

Industry Relationships & Conflict of Interest

Members shall maintain transparent and ethical relationships with industry partners.

  • Disclose financial or professional relationships where relevant

  • Avoid conflicts that may influence clinical or academic decisions

Ensure that educational content remains unbiased and patient-focused

Professional Conduct & Respect

Members shall treat colleagues, patients, and staff with dignity and respect.

  • Maintain a professional, inclusive, and harassment-free environment

  • Avoid discrimination based on gender, religion, caste, region, age, or sexual orientation

Resolve professional disagreements respectfully

Confidentiality

Members must respect confidentiality in all professional contexts.

  • Protect patient privacy at all times

  • Handle clinical data responsibly

Maintain confidentiality in mentorship, committee work, and Society-related matters

Use of BSLMS Name & Identity

Members shall use the name, logo, and affiliation of BSLMS responsibly.

  • Do not misuse Society branding for personal promotion

  • Represent Society positions accurately

Avoid actions that may harm the reputation of BSLMS

Compliance with Laws & Regulations

Members must comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements governing medical practice in India.

Disciplinary Action

Violation of this Code of Ethics may result in:

  • Review by the Ethics Committee

  • Corrective guidance or warnings

Suspension or termination of membership, as deemed appropriate

By applying for and maintaining membership in BSLMS, members agree to:

Act in a manner that upholds the credibility and integrity of BSLMS
