BSLMS LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE ROLES

The leadership of the BSLMS Society is entrusted to experienced dermatologists who guide the Society’s vision, educational initiatives, ethical standards, and professional growth. Each role carries defined responsibilities to ensure transparency, continuity, and scientific excellence.

BSLMS LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE ROLES

President

The President serves as the chief representative and strategic leader of the BSLMS Society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to the Society

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of BSLMS

  • Chair Executive Council meetings and major Society forums

  • Represent BSLMS at national and international scientific events

  • Oversee major educational, research, and conference initiatives

Ensure ethical governance and professional conduct

President-Elect

The President-Elect supports the President and ensures leadership continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the President on strategic planning

  • Assist in oversight of Society programs and initiatives

  • Prepare to assume the role of President in the next term

  • Represent BSLMS when delegated by the President

  • Participate actively in long-term planning and policy development

Senior Vice President

 

The Senior Vice President supports senior leadership and oversees key operational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the President in executing strategic initiatives

  • Oversee assigned committees or special projects

  • Provide guidance on academic, clinical, or organizational matters

  • Support conference planning and educational programs

Act on behalf of the President when required

Junior Vice President

The Junior Vice President focuses on growth, engagement, and future leadership development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Society activities and academic programs

  • Engage with early-career dermatologists and PLM members

  • Assist in educational, mentorship, and outreach initiatives

  • Contribute to member engagement strategies

Gain leadership experience for future senior roles

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for administrative coordination and official communications of the Society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain official records, minutes, and documentation

  • Coordinate Executive Council meetings and correspondence

  • Manage Society communications and notifications

  • Ensure compliance with Society bylaws and policies

Oversee membership documentation and approvals

Joint Secretary

The Joint Secretary assists the Secretary in day-to-day administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support record-keeping and communication activities

  • Assist with membership coordination and data management

  • Help organize meetings, events, and official correspondence

Act on behalf of the Secretary when required

Executive Member

Executive Members contribute to governance, policy development, and Society activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Executive Council discussions

  • Support educational, research, and conference initiatives

  • Serve on committees and task forces

  • Represent member interests responsibly
